We want to help all the local nonprofits that are working on sustainability related issues to find volunteers:
Ashevillage Institute
- Workdays are Tuesday-Saturday 9-5. Will include making and applying clay paint and earthen plasters, starting permaculture gardens, and more as we do the eco-remodel of AVI. Internships are available too. Please contact them before going. www.kleiwerks.org/avi or call 828.225.8820.
Blue Ridge Biofuels
- Volunteer to help with their mission to bring local biodiesel production to Asheville. Info: 253-1034
Bountiful Cities Project
- Opportunities to be involved include gardening, beekeeping, compost maintenance, watering, working with youth, organizing, and administration. Info: www.bountifulcitiesproject.org
Clean Water for North Carolina

Dogwood Alliance

Quality Forward

- Volunteers needed to do plantings, litter sweeps, and stream and river cleanups throughout the year.
- Adopt a Street Program: If you're interested in adopting a neighborhood street within the Asheville city limits, call QF to see if your street is still eligible. QF will provide bags, gloves, safety vest and a prompt litter bag pick up.

- Adopt-a-Stream is a hands-on way for local residents/businesses to get actively involved in improving the water quality of the FBR watershed.
- River Cleanups take place every month. large and small groups are encouraged to participate.
